Suspended 800 metres above the seafloor in one of the worlds busiest shipping lanes, Steve Warren waits patiently  for pilots whales. Pilot whales travel in pods and can reach 6 metres in length and weigh three tons. Ocean Optics has pioneered freediving with the whales in the Gibraltar Straits, introducing top professional underwater photographers and film makers to these charismatic animals. Armed with a Light and Motion underwater video system, Steve may spend up to a minute and a half alongside the whales and reach depths of 15 metres. Steve, owner of Ocean Optics, has a 15 year track record in dive journalism. He's written for all the major UK diving magazines and advised on many media projects. An underwater stills photographer since 1994, he's also shot underwater video for television.
