INON Close Up Lenses and Accessories

MarkKoekemoerImageClose up photography is a fascinating pursuit and can reveal detail in your subjects that cannot be seen with the naked eye. However, although most compact underwater cameras have a built in macro facility, relying on it often results in very disappointing underwater photographs. The problems include shadows cast by the cameras built in flash unit, the subject still appearing small in the finished picture and the requirement for the photographer to be almost on top of the animal he or she is trying to portray.

INON's range of close up underwater photography lenses and accessories make shooting tiny creatures as small as a five pence coin very straightforward. Taking photographs of shrimp, nudibranchs, cup corals and, with care, fish with your INON UCL close up lenses takes you into a fascinating realm of underwater photography that is easily mastered.

INON close up equipment lets you maximise your photo opportunities in top critter diving destinations, like Atlantis Dive Resorts in the Philippines, (you can join Ocean Optics' INON underwater photography course designer and instructor examiner, Mark Koekemoer on his two week photo safari to Atlantis in summer 2011) or work in almost nil visibility, making photography in UK waters perfectly viable.

INON Close Up Lenses

INON close up lenses mount to the outside of your underwater camera housing using either bayonet mounts or screw threads. They can be fitted and removed during your dive. INON close up lenses work much like magnifying glasses. The INON close up lenses enable you to use your full zoom range, letting you zoom in to maximum telephoto to fill the frame with just part of a tiny subject. The amount of magnification available to you depends upon the zoom range of your specific camera lens. You can combine two or more INON close up lenses to further increase magnification as needed. INON UCL close up lenses can also be used in air and are ideal for photographing insects and flowers. Using close up lenses also helps eliminate distracting backgrounds by throwing them out of focus.

INON close up lenses put your subject in focus at a distance of around 10 - 20cm. By keeping a little distance between you and your subject there is less disturbance of the animal and less risk of contact, which might injure it. There's also more space to light your subject using an off camera strobe or video light. If you want to use your cameras built in flash, you'll normally be able to light your subject evenly if you are using an INON lens base. INON lens bases have a built in diffuser, which spreads the beam and eliminates shadows.

INON UCL165AD Close Up Lens for INON AD and AD-28 Mounts

INONUCL165ADThe INON UCL165AD close up lens is a two-element design. Like professional close up lenses used in commercial land photography, two lenses are used with a sealed air gap in between the elements. The lenses are glass and coated to maximise light transmission by minimising reflections and retain maximum contrast. The INON UCL165AD mounts securely into an INON AD mount with a quarter turn and can be stored on an INON AD lens holder when not in use.

INON UCL165AD underwater camera lenses carry a three year guarantee when purchased from Ocean Optics.

INON UCL165AD AD28 Adapter

This adapter ring is required to mount the INON UCL165AD close up lens onto cameras using the INON AD-28 lens base. It sets the UCL165AD close up lens at the correct optical distance from your underwater cameras built in lens for perfect images. You only need one adapter which fits onto the lens base. If you wish to stack lenses for higher magnification or store lenses on the INON lens holder you won't require additional INON UCL165AD Adapters.

INON UCL330M67 for 67mm threaded ports - Ideal for Stills and Video

INONUCL165M67The INON UCL330M67 is a two element close up lens. This type of precision optical design is identical to that found on close up lenses used in professional land photography when exceptional image quality is demanded. The lens elements are glass and coated to maximise light transmission, minimise reflections and retain contrast. The lens body is anodised aluminium. Additional INON UCL165M67 and INON UCL330M67 lenses or UR Pro filters can be attached to the M67 filter thread on this lens.

A three year guarantee is provided when you purchase your INON UCL330M67 underwater camera lens from Ocean Optics.

The INON UCL330M67 is half the magnification of the INON UCL165M67.

INON UCL165AD, UCL165M67 and UCL330 Accessories

INON UCL close up, lens protective carry pouch

Your INON UCL close up lenses are valuable investments you will want to use on expensive dive trips. To help protect them INON offer carry pouches. These soft neoprene pouches help protect your lenses elements from scratching and offer some impact protection. A simple drawstring closes the pouch, so there are no zips to fail or damage your lenses. This is an essential item for your INON UCL 165 and 330 M67 close up lenses as these are not provided with lens caps.

INON UCL165AD front lens cap

A spare push on cap to protect your INON UCL165AD front element.

INON UCL165AD rear lens cap

A bayonet fit cap to protect your INON UCL165AD close up lenses vulnerable rear element.

INON Lens Holders

To keep your INON UCL close up lenses and INON UWL 105, 100 and UFL 165 underwater wide angle lenses secure and immediately to hand, INON offer a range of lens holders. This can be attached to INON and other makes of underwater strobe arm, INON float arms and INON Grip Bases.

Hi Steve;

Just recently got the inon macro lens you handed over to Rob at the dive show. Thank you very much. The tips have been very useful, you are certainly right, there's not much room for error
on focus, but i'm getting some good results so far.

Cheers
