Nauticam D-SLR Underwater Housings

NauticamUnderwaterCameraHousings

Nauticam D- SLR housings offer superlative features and benefits at a surprisingly low price point for enthusiasts and professional underwater photographers alike. Each housing is designed for a specific camera model, not a "universal" hull that's been adapted by fitting controls in different places to fit different camera bodies. This tailored approach results in an underwater camera housing that is extremely compact and lightweight, minimising drag underwater and making travelling with your system as hand luggage much easier. It also allows controls to be laid out to suit each camera model to make handling as easy as possible for the photographer.

Nauticam have taken an innovative approach to their controls, which works very well. The piano key approach enables Nauticam owners easy access to camera controls and to use a light touch, avoiding vibration that can blur an image. The design and placement of the handgrips is an integral part of controlling your Nauticam and here again Nauticam have scored, offering small and large grips to suit the individual. Nauticam also provide spacers to allow you to move the grips outwards for perfect handling with larger hands or while using thick gloves.

Each Nauticam housing is built for the long run. Aluminium is anodised to protect against corrosion. Your camera mounts onto a saddle and slots very securely into the housing hull. Three over centre latches with safety locks seal the hull. Nauticam original ports and extension rings feature a secure locking mechanism that provides extra safety for your valuable camera system.

Viewfinders can be switched by the user. We recommend the 180 finder for its lifesize reproduction and for the clearance it provides for your regulator. Because it is designed to be removed and installed by the user, you can store this separately to reduce the volume of your Nauticam for travelling.

Most Nauticam housings are equipped with dual fibre optic flash connectors. These are compatible with all INON strobes (other than the Z-22) for TTL or manual control. You can also add a Nikonos type connector for hard wired flash systems. A choice of flash, video light and focusing light  mounts can be specified to meet your needs.

A leak detector is standard and both blinks and sounds an audible alarm if it detects moisture.

For more information please see specifications for current Nauticam housings. Steve Warren  (who wrote about SLR housings for Martin Edge's book "The Underwater Photographer" or Mark Koekemoer (who wrote the compacts section) will be pleased to answer any questions you have about Nauticam.  We have a very different way of selling underwater camera equipment and it's worth checking out our induction day to see why Ocean Optics may well be your best choice for Nauticam equipment.
