Nexus macro ports

Nexus Macro System

Nexus macro ports are optical glass.

Autofocus ports are available for Nikons 60mm and
105mm lenses and by using extension ports can be
adapted to use the 200mm and 70 -180mm macro zoom and also to work
with teleconverters - see sedebar on teleconverters.

To reduce vibration that can result in unsharp pictures
at high magnification most Nexus ports include an
internal support ring to cradle the lens.Autofocus ports
and extension rings have non slip collars to make them easy to install and remove.

Nexus Manual Focus Port

To enable Nikon macro lenses to be switched between
manual and autofocus underwater to suit the subject,
Nexus offer the Multi Port. The Multi Port is really a
housing system for macro lenses in its own right. It
accepts all four Micro Nikkors and also accepts tele
converters. The port uses a system of dedicated fronts,
backs and lens gears to adapt to the lens of choice.

The main section of the Multi Port includes two controls.
One links to a lens gear to switch each lens from auto to
manual focus. The other is a large manual focus control
wheel that meshes with a focus ring on the lens barrel. Using this section as the base, different length flat optical glass ports are screwed into the front to accomodate the different lenses. With the 200mm an extension ring is attached to the back of the Multi Port.

With Nikons 70-180mm zoom a zoom gear is used and operated from the zoom control wheel on the housing. Nexus recommend usng a Nikon 5T close up lens with this lens for increasing magnification throughout the zoom range. This lens is also used as a front support to minimise vibration. If the close up lens is not fitted a support ring should be installed. An extension ring is used to lengthen the Multi Port to accept the zoom.

For use with teleconverters an extension ring and special aperture gear need to be used. Again the Multi Port lets you switch from auto to manual focus which can be essential with teleconverters which often defeat autofocus systems at near distances.

Multi Ports are available as complete units for each of Nikons four macro lenses and as adapter kits including everything you need to convert your existing multi port system to fit other lenses. Available for Nikon 60mm, Nikon 105mm, Nikon 200mm and Nikon 70 - 180mm

Nexus Extension Rings

Used to adapt ports designed for short lenses to longer models or for use with teleconverters. Available in lengths from 10mm to 90mm.

Nexus Teleconverter Sets

Includes extension ring and extended Nikon fit aperture gear. Available for Teleplus 1.4 and 2 x teleconverters. Check with us for information on suitable models.

Nexus Wet Lens

This close up lens converts Nikon macro lenses that normally focus down to lifesize to twice lifesize for supermacro images. It simply push fits onto the front port when needed. It increases versatility at little cost and without reducing light which can impair autofocusing. Available in several sizes and supplied with a lanyard so you won't lose it.

Nexus Lens Gears

Nexus lens gears are manufactured from high quality anodised aluminium and are finished in a matt anti reflective paint to avoid internal reflections. Aperture gears can be switched between Nikon AF lenses in seconds without tools. Focus and zoom gears are usually a push fit and are dedicated to specific lenses. Extended aperture gears are available for use with Nikon AF lenses and specific teleconverters.

Nexus Port Strobe Mount

Accepts two small to medium sized strobes like Sea and Seas YS30,60 and 90, or with adapters, the Nikonos SB105. It is a very compact set up for dedicated macro photography.

Nexus SB105 TTL Short Cord

Eliminates having long cables trailing and becoming entangled or drifting in front of your lens or strobes. Ideal for shooting up close and personal. Available for Nikonos SB105.

Extended Grip

Front heavy lenses can unbalance your housing, especially when combined with heavy strobes. The extended grip adapter places your left hand forward of the housing body to provide better more comfortable support and also makes it easier to manually focus using the Multi Port with extension rings that place the focus control wheel out of easy reach. The grip has a range of adjustment to provide the best handling with different hand sizes and port combinations.
