suballogocmyk3dThe Subal Dynasty

Subal camera housings are chosen by many of the worlds greatest underwater image makers. Our own client list for Subal housings include the underwater photo journalists Edwin Marcow (Sport Diver Magazine and X - Ray), Simon Brown (Dive Magazine), John Liddiard (Diver Magazine), Peter Rowlands (Underwater Photography Magazine), commercial photographers Chris Wildblood,, Ian Derry, Romilly Lockyer and Andrew Sutton, natural history photographers Peter Scoones and Georgette Douwma (Blue Planet, Planet Earth TV shows), natural history authors Constantionos Petrinos (Realm of the Pygmy Seahorse), Tom Peschak (Currents of Contrast and South Africas' Great White Shark), Steve Bloom (Elephant!), John Collins (Cool Waters, Emerald Seas), Paul Naylor (Marine Animals of the South West) and the underwater photography educators Martin Edge, Mark Webster and marine biologist, journalist and author Alex Mustard.

Subal's professional following is founded on the superb build quality of Subal housings, their intuitive and responsive control layouts, compact dimensions, light weight, fantastic viewfinders and a set of ports that define optical excellence. Designer Arnold Stepanek has been creating housings for more than forty years. Subal owners making the change from film to digital housings appreciate the familiarity of the new designs making the transition an easy one. And with the recent introduction of the mk4 bayonet mount, Subal have once again proven their commitment to existing Subal owners by providing a selection of economic ways to allow older ports to be mounted to newer housings. Like Ocean Optics, Subal seeks a long term relationship with clients - and just as many of Ocean Optics staunchest supporters switched to us from other retailers, many Subal owners have switched from other housing brands.

Subal housings are built in small numbers, partly to ensure Arnold has full command of quality control. It's usual to have to wait a little while to take delivery of your new Subal. But as our far from exhaustive client list above underscores the long term benefit of owning a Subal housing is, to a working professional, worth that small delay. If you would like to discuss the Subal system in detail, please set some time aside and contact Mark or Steve. Buying any D- SLR system is an expensive undertaking and it's important it is an investment - not something in which you are later disappointed. If you can visit our showroom, Mark or Steve will want to spend an hour or two discussing the type of underwater photography that you want to do and can then make recommendations on a system. If you later decide to purchase your Subal system from us we will ask you to return for a full day to go through your system properly. You'll be shown how to assemble your camera, housing, lenses and ports, check strobe systems and go through the pre dive preparation that will keep your camera safe in the water. Finally, you'll be invited to test dive your new Subal system in Underwater Studios movie tank.

Subal housings are unique. They deserve a unique service.
