Underwater Strobe Photography

InonZ240Ocean Optics can provide you with a selection of lighting options for your underwater camera. At Ocean Optics we believe in recommending equipment that will meet both your immediate needs and future requirements. Our range of strobes and strobe housings all give you wide coverage suitable for shooting with wide angle lenses and lots of power to maximise your shooting range and gain depth of field. Fast recycling ensures you can shoot quickly to catch the action.

In our experience many underwater photographers purchase strobes that are not really suited to their needs. Sometimes they do not need a strobe to improve their results, other times a strobe by itself cannot take the photograph they want (it’s an irritating and undefeatable law of physics thing) or the strobe they buy lacks power or coverage. It’s a confusing and daunting subject and very easy to get wrong. As underwater photographers ourselves, we can advise you from our own hard won experience.

Ocean Optics also carries the Inon strobe arm system, which provides a lightweight, rugged and extremely manoeuvrable way to position your strobe for optimum lighting. The modular design allows you to expand your arm system inexpensively should you find yourself progressing into specialist realms such as super wide angle or super macro photography.

We would always suggest talking through possible strobes and arms with us before making a shortlist of those that will best satisfy your own requirements. Wherever possible we would recommend visiting us to look over the equipment. When purchasing from Ocean Optics you might like to bring in your camera and housing to go through the set up with Mark or Steve. This typically takes 45 minutes to an hour.
