Aditech video housings help make high quality underwater videography for the serious amateur and semi –pro affordable. They offer extensive control of your camera functions for creative shooting, have on board colour monitors and accept 67mm threaded wetlens accessories including colour correction filters, wide angle and macro lenses.
Sony HC-1 Housing
The model for the very popular Sony HC-1 Hi- Def features an aluminium front and Delrin back, ensuring low weight for travelling and eliminating most corrosion problems. This is a housing that’s built to last. Designer Juan Santis has also worked hard to provide the easiest possible control of the most important camera functions. Dual, sculpted handgrips ensure a positive non slip grip. These place your thumbs within easy reach of eight main controls. Large buttons, easily depressed with gloves, line the left and right hand sides of the housing. On the right you’ll find record, photo (for shooting stills), and zoom with separate tele and wide push buttons. To your left are auto focus/manual focus selectors. This feature makes your images look much more professional as you can focus on a subject, like a diver, then pan to another diver without the auto focus hunting and spoiling the sequence. Two more buttons allow you to focus manually – either towards infinity or macro. Located below this is your mode button.
The back of the housing also offers control of your backlight, pre set white balance and on/off. Ocean Optics housings additionally have a full manual white balance hold, essential for getting the best results when using Magic or UR Pro filters. All controls are electronic and link to your cameras LANC socket.
The housing separates using two twist lock latches. These are oversized for easy opening and closing, even when your hands are cold. The back is sealed using both a piston and a compression seal to ensure your camera stays dry. An optical leak detector is fitted for extra peace of mind!
A 2.5 inch active matrix colour monitor is fitted into the backplate. Juan has set this at 45 degrees. The angled finder makes it easy to shoot low level shots with the housing held below you, such as when shooting small animals on the sand and also makes it more convenient for shooting while swimming.
The glass front port is fitted with a 67mm filter thread. This allows the use of wet lens systems, meaning you can switch between a wide angle accessory lens, a macro lens and the cameras own zoom underwater. We recommend Inon lenses, which are already very popular with owners of digital compact cameras.
The Aditech HC- 1 housing with manual white balance control costs £1599.00.
PC1000 Housing
Aditech’s housing for the high end Sony PC1000 offers outstanding value for money combined with an outstanding specification. To keep the housing strong, lightweight and corrosion resistant, designer Juan Santis has matched an aluminium front section with a Delrin back plate. Dual pistol grips are sculpted for a sure, non slip grip. Juan has placed your PC1000’s key controls within easy reach of the grips, so you can operate them mid shot without taking your hands from the handgrips and disturbing the sequence. Eight electronically controlled push buttons are arranged for use with your left and right thumbs. The right control set lets you record, take stills and operate your zoom. To your left you’ll find focus selection. You can turn your auto focus on and off, allowing you to fix focus on your subject, so the camera doesn’t “hunt’ or pull focus for creativity – to macro focus on a Nudibranch, for instance, and then shift to a shot of a diver swimming overhead. Separate buttons let you focus towards infinity or macro. A mode control completes the left hand function array.
The housing controls are completed with buttons that let you select backlight for your monitor and white balance controls. We supply our housings with a full manual white balance control – essential for getting the best colours when using UR Pro and Magic filters. To connect up your PC1000’s controls to your housing, you just need to plug the remote cable into your LANC socket.
Opening and closing the housing is straightforward and secure
using two twist and turn butterfly latches. Two O rings seal the hull – even so Juan has fitted an optical leak detector.
A 2.5 inch colour matrix monitor is built into the housing back. This is nicely angled to make low angle shooting easier.
The glass port is fitted with a 67mm filter ring. You can attach UR Pro filters and macro and wide angle lenses during your dive, letting you cover a range of subjects. We recommend Inon lenses. If you are using lights, then by choosing Inon arms you can attach lens accessories to them for safe keeping using an Inon lens holder.
The Aditech PC1000 housing costs £1399.00
Aditech Video Lights
VC-3
The VC-3 is a compact self contained video light. The output is 50 watts using a halogen bulb. The VC-3 is powerful enough for properly lighting macro, close up and medium distance subjects. The VC-3 body is crafted from aluminium for a long working life. An oversized rotary switch is easy to operate when wearing gloves and has a lock built in. Output can be switched between 50 watts and 35 watts. This lets you use lower power for close ups or to extend your burn time. At full output the VC-3 lasts 40 minutes. Power is from a Nickel Metal Hydride pack. The unit is easily opened by hand in seconds for charging or for security inspections. Reliable double O rings seal the Vc-3.A smart charger is supplied. A removable handgrip and a video light arm shoe are included.

VS 9H50 Professional Lighting Rig
The VS 9H50 is a very high power, extended burn time, near daylight balanced video lighting system for semi – professional and professional users. The unit is equipped with two separate lamp heads for wide angle shooting and creative lighting control. HID (high intensity discharge) bulbs are used for their efficiency. Providing light power equivalent to a halogen bulb twice their wattage, the HS 950 offers a combined output of 200 watts. The 4500 Kelvin colour temperature is near daylight balanced making it much easier to keep colours lit by the lights matched with that of the background. Each lamp head is compact, making them easy to place alongside most housings for macro photography. They also produce little drag, a real benefit when working in current. Because they are lightweight, the heads are easily supported by strobe arms. Reflectors create an even soft light over a 90 degree angle for wide angle photography. Spot reflectors can be fitted for diving. Two piston O rings seal each lamp head. The on/off switch is rotary and oversized for use with gloves. A mounting shoe for an arm is included.
The power pack is a 12 volt Nickel Metal Hydride battery. This will run one lamp head for two hours or both heads for nearly 60 minutes. A heavy duty clip is fitted for attaching your VS –9H50 to your cam band or belt.
